About CCB
Why the bee?
CC is short for Carol Cmiel, CC's maiden name. Cmiel was shortened by her father when enlisting during WWII. It comes from a Polish name meaning "beekeeper." The "Bee" in CC Bee honors her heritage.
CC Butler has more than 20 years experience in bookkeeping and accounting.
CC learned bookkeeping at her mother's knee, sitting at the dining room table together when CC was 13 . She has worked with corporations, LLCs, partnerships, trusts, S-corps, foundations, non-profits, foreign organizations and sole proprietorships. Her clients have included small businesses, wealthy individuals, and regular folk. Some are looking for a bookkeeper who can help them keep on top of their financial position; others are overwhelmed by paperwork or the challenge of learning a new software program. CC is busy helping them all.
CC grew up in the Chicago suburbs and earned her Bachelors degree from the University of Chicago. Later, while considering a career in accounting, she began taking graduate level accounting and finance courses. CC then earned her Masters degree in Information Management & Systems from University of California, Berkeley. (That means she understands a bit more than some people about how information is captured / found / disseminated in today's networked world.)
CC and her family moved to the Iowa City area in 2005 to be near her aging mother. They chose to live in Riverside in order to experience and participate in a small town community.
CC loves to make sense out of a jumble of information bits. If you're the one with a box full of receipts, statements and miscellaneous notes for your business and you've never been able to set up a system or keep it organized CC will gladly take the mess and return it to you organized, labeled and tallied.
CC has experience teaching software programs of all types. If you started to use QuickBooks for your business but got confused and just can't seem to make it work for you ... CC will figure out what you need to learn and how to streamline your operations as much as the software will allow.
CC enjoys reconciling bank statements and creating reports.
